Masaiti District on the 8th March,2026 joined the nation in commemorating Women’s Day under the theme “Rights, Justice, Action for All Women and Girls.”at the event which was held in Mishikishi Ward.
The guest of honor Masaiti District Commissioner Ernie Matutu expressed pride that most key positions in the district are now held by women. She encouraged women to mentor and raise girl children with care, noting that strong support at home helps curb vulnerability to abuse. Ms. Matutu also urged men to respect women as equal partners in marriage and daily life, she challenged women to continue working hard to take up leadership roles in pursuit of equality.
The Commissioner thanked His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema for championing women’s inclusion in leadership, including the enactment of Bill Seven.
Masaiti Town Council Secretary Wamunyima Mumbali interpreted the theme as “justice wearing many faces and fairness being universal.”
She stressed that women and girls already deserve dignity and respect at every table. Ms. Mumbali called on the community to uphold the rights and safety of women and girls.
