Masaiti Town Council Secretary Madam Mumbali Wamunyima has pledged to work closely with the Chiefdoms in Masaiti District in order to foster and post positive developmental programs that will benefit the locals.
This came to light when she paid a courtesy call on Chief Nkambo and Senior Chief Chiwala at their palaces.
” We are here to ensure that we work hand in hand with the Chiefdoms to develop Masaiti as a District. We will be knocking on your doors for guidance and assistance whenever need arises,” She said.
The Chiefs equally highlighted some challenges being faced by the community in their Chiefdoms with His Royal Highness Chief Nkambo, strongly highlighting issues of poor road networks and maintainance, especially Nyenyezi, Mobe through to Ishitwe road as well as the Mobe bridge that has since been washed away cutting away the otherside of the Chiefdom. His Royal Highness equally called on the Council through the Council Secretary to take preparations of the Katanino Traditional Ceremony as it’s baby seeing that currently it was the only Traditional Ceremony being celebrated in the district.
Meanwhile, Senior Chief Chiwala called for an urgent solution to land wrangles, which have been caused by not following land acquisition procedures, especially on customary land. He also called on the quick follow-up on the degazation of the Lonshi Border road for the economic and social benefits of the district.
Council Secretary Madam Mumbali is coming from Kalumbila Town Council on transfer and has taken over from Mr. Mlauzi Robert, who has since been transferred to Monze Town Council as Council Secretary.
The two courtesy calls also intimated that CDF remains the people’s money and does not belong to one single individual. In this vain, the government has implored a bottom-up approach in order for the community to dictate what sort of development they need in a particular area.
” This approach ensures a deeper sense of ownership,” Chief Chiwala observed. On the other hand, Chief Nkambo praised the strides so far achieved through the leadership of His Excellency the President of Zambia Mr Hakainde Hichilema, saying the Chiefdom is happy with the vision of the President and stands ready to support it fully.
The delegation that paid an introductory courtesy call was led by the District Commissioner Madam Ernie Matutu in the company of the Council Chairperson Mr Andrew Lumano and Director of Human Resource and Administration Mr. Muzumara Boniface as well as Director of Planning Mr. Abraham Kashimoto.
The Council Secretary took an opportunity to invite the Royal Highnesses to the ECZ Delimitation meeting scheduled for Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at Masaiti Boarding School.
