Masaiti Town Council on May 20, 2025, hosted the Copperbelt Province Minister, Hon. Elisha Matambo, who officiated at the handover of five earth-moving machines procured under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in Masaiti District this evening, marking a significant step toward improving the region’s road network.
The equipment bought at a total cost of K12,653,599.64, is intended to accelerate road construction and rehabilitation projects across the district, this underscores the government’s commitment to upgrading infrastructure in line with President Hakainde Hichilema’s development agenda.
During the ceremony, Hon. Matambo urged local councils to collaborate closely with traditional leaders to identify and prioritize critical road projects. “Consultation with community custodians is key to ensuring resources address the most pressing needs of our people,” he emphasized.
The Minister also called for strict adherence to accountability, advising CDF grant beneficiaries to utilize funds solely for their designated purposes. “Every kwacha must translate into tangible progress for our communities,” he stated.
Additionally, he directed all Copperbelt councils to expedite the implementation of presidential directives to upgrade feeder roads, describing the initiative as vital for boosting connectivity and economic growth.
Hon. Matambo further rallied residents of Masaiti to continue supporting President Hichilema’s vision. “Together, we are laying the foundation for a better Zambia—one built on hard work, transparency, and shared prosperity,” he declared.
The handover signals a renewed push to tackle infrastructure gaps in the district, with the CDF playing a pivotal role in decentralizing development efforts.
A total of 245 organized groups have benefitted from the 2025 CDF Grants component translating in a total sum of four million nine hundred sixty thousand five hundred kwacha (K4,965,000.00) with Kafulafuta benefitting 124 organized groups whilst Masaiti benefits 121 organized groups translating to two million four hundred eighty thousand kwacha (k2,480,000.00) and two million four hundred eighty thousand five hundred kwacha (k2,480,500.00)
Other notables present during the event include His Royal Highness Chief Nkambo, the Council Chairperson Mr. Lumano Andrew, the District commissioner Madam Eernie Matutu, Kafulafuta Member of Parliament Hon. Jefferey Murebwa, the District Development Joint Operations Committee members, Area Councilors and Heads of Government Departments, to mention but a few.
